The man for everyone. You’ll probably recognise him from your TV screens from his insanely cool antics in Dirty Sanchez, Wrecked or Balls of Steel. If you haven’t then what are you waiting for? Run, swim, cycle, repeat – this is exactly what Matthew Pritchard (aka Pritch) did for 30 days when he committed himself to completing 30 half ironmans in 30 days in order to raise £100,000 for various charities (this £100,000 goal is still ongoing). ‘Nice guys always finish last’, well not this one! That’s a 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. Everyday. Definitely more than your average daily workout!
As well as currently working on his £100,000 challenge and being a pro skateboarder, Pritch has also got more achievements to add to his already extensive list including completing a continuous triple Ironman in 54 hours, finishing a 50-mile ultra-marathon from Brecon to Cardiff, cycling John O’Groats to Lands End in 30 days and running 2 London Marathons (one was whilst wearing a mankini – how long until Nike picks up on this trend?). Not enough? Oh well he also skateboarded from Cardiff to Newquay and you can bet he did some pretty insane tricks on the way!
And when he’s taking a break from all of this? You’ll find Pritch in The Arcades in Cardiff, where he owns his own tattoo parlour. He might not be the world’s coolest guy but… oh no wait, he definitely is.

OUT OF ALL YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR TO DATE, WHICH ONE HAS FELT THE BEST WHEN CROSSING THE FINISH LINE?
‘Crossing the line after completing any endurance challenge/event is always a pretty special feeling to be honest and trying to put it into words is pretty hard but I can guarantee you it feels great especially when you’ve gone through so much pain physically and mentally. But for me, I think finishing the 30 half irons in 30 days was pretty special.’
HOW DO YOU PREPARE YOURSELF FOR UNDERTAKING AN EVENT SUCH AS AN IRONMAN?
‘I train 6 days a week sometimes twice a day and follow a healthy vegan diet which I think helps immensely. What a lot of people don’t understand is that it takes more than just being fit to cover so much distance. It’s a lot to do with your mental ability too. I’ve never been all there so I think I have a slight advantage in that field (laughter)’
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PRIMAL BAR AND WHY?
‘I enjoy them all but if I have to name one it’ll have to be The Paleo Cocoa Orange bar, simply because I enjoy the taste. They are perfect for my vegan diet and I find them easy to eat whilst competing.’
